About BILD

The Building Industry and Land Development Association was formed through the merger of the Greater Toronto Home Builders’ association (GTHBA) and the Urban Development Institute/Ontario.  BILD is the voice of the land development, home building and professional renovation industry in the Greater GTA.  BILD represents more than 1,500 member companies.

BILD membership includes: home builders; land developers; renovators; land use and environmental planners; sub-contractors; manufacturers; lawyers; surveyors; architects; suppliers; and representatives of service, professional and financial institutions.  Their goal is to improve the communication between the industry and government, provide enhanced opportunities for our members, promote the welfare of the industry, and protect the interests of consumers.

BILD encourages innovation and excellence in the planning and building of sustainable communities and in the redevelopment and renovation of existing communities.  They work to encourage government at all levels to establish fair and effective policies that impact the building and development industry and its customers.  They regularly facilitate discussions between the industry and the federal, provincial, regional and local governments with respect to issues that affect development, building, and home ownership in the Greater GTA.

Each year BILD honours the leaders of our industry in a variety of categories to reward achievement and encourage innovation. They conduct tours of the best developments in cities throughout the World, so that our members remain on the cutting edge of technology, design and marketing.

BILD works to support and encourage home ownership through three major home shows annually, regular consumer seminars, and the publication of information of interest to home buyers and homeowners.

They sponsor university courses in planning, work with community colleges and unions to promote the building trades as a career choice, and work with the federal government to improve the immigration of skilled workers to help us meet demand and replace experienced tradesmen now looking toward retirement.
